Here’s why you should study in Canada
Canada is one of the safest countries in the world, with a great healthcare system and fantastic career opportunities for graduates. Once you have a letter of acceptance from a designated learning institution (DLI), you can apply for a study permit. Generally, you must apply for a study permit before you come to Canada.
The study permit is valid for the duration of your studies, plus an additional 90 days. You can work up to 20 hours a week on a study permit. Many students choose to stay in Canada after they complete their course.
Post Graduate Work Permit
A Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows you to remain in Canada and work for 8 months to 3 years, depending on the length of your course. Most students are eligible after they complete an academic, vocational or professional training program at a designated learning institution in Canada that is at least 8 months in duration leading to a degree, diploma or certificate.
You don’t need a job offer to apply and you can work anywhere in Canada, even if it’s unrelated to your studies. Once your PGWP has finished, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residence.
In 2021/2022, the average tuition fees for international undergraduate students in Canada was $33,623. Tuition fees international students can expect to pay in Canada vary greatly and range between $10,000 to $60,000 depending on the province and course you choose.
Generally, the cheapest provinces are Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba and New Brunswick. The most expensive province is usually British Columbia.
